We had the concert at my son's school at 7;00p.m. yesterday. About 50 5th-6th garde students got together and sang 15 songs about the winter. Between the chorus, they played small musical instruments like a flute, a triangle, and castanets. Let me tell you their performance. They sometimes missed the rhythm and out of harmony, and the overall concert performance were a bit in disorder. Considering different points of view, the positive perspectives, their perfomance had been done in natural and unartificial moods. Students did not seem to be bound by the order and formality. On the other hand, students in Korea are ceremonious in the concert. Costumes are unified, students performing are largely consistent, and a lot of extra time after school would be spent to prepare for this concert.
The other shocking thing was that the principal straightened the auditorium up. He arranged electronic wires and sound facilities after the concert. Oh my god! How could people or other teachers let him clean them up? Who are principals in korea? They are top leaders and have the strong power on every matter inside and outside shcool. In Korea, I've never watched the principal put things away after the event at school. Principals are not such people who put things in order. To use a metaphor, they are like Kings, rulers, and decision-makers. For example, if a Korean principal picks up some trashes and diposes of them, he might be admired by people, parents, and students. I mean to say that such principals are rarely seen. Therefore, seeing a principal cleaning up was that much shocking to me.
