My son's school opened last Tuesday, 9 Jan. 2007. To get my son enrolled in school, we visited there one day before the opening.
The interesting things was that the main gate was locked so we had to ring the bell next to the door to enter the building. Interestingly, the same thing was also seen at my daughter's preschool. It was a little bit annoying because all visitors have to wait from the freezing outside until the staff opens the gate. I wonder why they keep the door lock down. Why?
Far from being warned of gut shots, I'd rarely heard the ruthless accidents took place at the public school in San Diego, California. San Diego Schools always open to the public regardless of the time. I'd never have any difficulty trying to enter the school. Schools are surrounded with the wire barriers, which have the entrance with the locks. Visitors are able to open and close the entrance very easily anytime they want to get in during school days.
On the contrary, Colorado Public Schools keep all gates locked except for attending and dismissing time. Another tragic gun shot happened at a high school in some city, CO last year. School adminstratives and parents were shocked. They were looking for the way to reinforce school safety and to protect innocent students from gun shots.
To get all main gates closed is one of methods that they have introduced to beef up security. However, I am so doubtful of this policy effect. This system could be norminal without rigorous checking. Lot of parents, teachers, and staff members at school are defenseless against strangers. They do not care about those who get in and out of the school. Checking or Reporting are required, but barely in practice. I think a drifter could intrude into the school without any difficuties if he/she intends to.
All policies are gearing for our wellfare and security, but people are apt to forget the past/bygone and to ignore the requirement of policy. Furthermore, those needed steps feel like troublsome. Making practical policies is so invaluable, yet it is the most important to strive to keep and respect the policy and order. But, it is not easy.

I've never heard of a tragedy fell on schools in San Diego.
But the other day, there was an gun shot at the extraordinally desserts, the well-known cafe in San Diego. A man who got a shot in front of his family died. Can you believe it? It is the cafe girls adore going to. Until then, I was under the impression that San Diego was a peaceful place, but this incident let me perceive that it's a gun society :(
Rico!
I remembered throwing some questions to my tutor that how many American possess the gun at home.
As you can see, quiet a lot of American movies have something to do with gun shot. People are killed and shot. I got scared though they are fictions/movies.
However, we occasionally heard of the gun shot took place in our neighbourhood. It is non-fiction.
I just hope everything ganna alright througout our staying. God blesses you and your family.
