My kids have hung around at home lately, and felt bored to death. I took them to the outdoor pool in the apartment, and they had a blast.
There did I meet a woman who brought her boy to the pool. I broke the ice with questions about her kid, for example, "how old is your boy?" "which school does your boy go?". The beginning was not bad. :)
Our talking was gradually developed into the politic, which is very boring and difficult. Quite honestly, as I could not grab what she spoke of 100%, I could not hit the nail on the head. Apparently, I was sure that I replied irrelevantly, for I saw a lot her pull a bit puzzled expression on her face. Miserable.
Anyway, she described the USA people as arrogant, however, I could not understand the meaning of "arrogant"at that time, and it caused a trouble; check the meaning by asking or just pass into another subject? A moment later, but, I simply nodded my head as the sign of the agreement because I was afraid that she would hate to be butted in. Alas! How coward I am !
Be honest! If I am not sure, talk straight to him/her. And, ask them to speak a bit slowly. Do not be afraid of making mistakes. Do not be ashamed to speak awkward and stammeringly. Rather, be proud of myself who is making constant effort to learn English.
