The 17 presidential election

Today the 17 th presidential election gets started in Korea. Soon, our next president is announced. However, this election I saw some weird phenomenon. People are not as much disturbed by politicking as in the last 16th election. At the 16th election, the voters were influenced too much by the internet and superficial phenomenon, but now people have changed to judge and decide things to some extent from the point of the third person's view.

The game was one-sided because, from the very beginning, the confrontation among candidates has assumed very simple; one likeliest winner vs. the rest.

As the main suspect named KyongJun Kim, accused of market manipulation, was transferred from the United States on Nov., the game began tense; LEE, the leading candidate, was also suspected of taking part in financing fraud. LEE has asserted that he has nothing to do with the paper company which was the center of money flow. On the other hand, Kim, the main suspect, insisted on that he was just a victim and every plan came from LEE and he just followed LEE's orders. He brought up the inside contract between Kim and Lee as the evidence of his innocent.

Subsequently, the ruling party has devoted their times and energy to bring this matter to the light. They put pressure on the prosecutor to bring out only truth. The ruling party has expected to see LEE collapse completely with this case and urged people to pay attention to it. They appeared so much confident that LEE is guilty. Everyday, every hour, every minute, News- media clung to the verbal/written evidences from KIM. The situation turned against LEE. Questions centered that point; whether or not LEE owned any stock of the paper company.

The prosecutor have investigated this case since long before the race began. Finally, they came to the conclusion that he is not related to this manipulating stock prices case. No suspect on him. Prosecutor have traced the flowing of money arising from the stock prices, they found no evidence money flew into his/his family accounts. The paper contract presented by KIM, catching the public's most interest, was also found to be forged. Say, KIM tried to use political situation to transfer his guilty to LEE.

Even if the leading candidate turned out to be no doubts, the opponent party hold on to this case and claimed that the prosecutor kneeled down before the grand corruption power. Tediously, the ruling party thought only of finding fault with LEE. This election has been more disgraced with false propaganda, abuse, and running others down than any elections. Soon, people have got sick and tired of hearing their libels and asked to stop picking on other candidates.

LEE's approval rate is so solid and frim that it rarely fall down. Poeple anticipate LEE will be elected our 17th president, and I also hope the election come up to our expectation. I saw hope that the majority of people are not involved any longer in political maneuvering. People cleary know who is proper this point though politicians resort to tricks to confuse us. I believe LEE was also taken in. LEE was dragged into the fraud without awareness, but before long he parted from his partner, KIM, because he recognized his partner manipulated in wrong way. The ruling party tried to abuse this indirect involvement to pervert the fact; LEE was the very man who manipulated the stocks. People knew that LEE did not play any role in manipulation of stock. If there is something wrong, he did not say anything about his indirect associations; he advertised that he founded the company, it was not the fact, though. His intention was to just promote the investment. If business is settled down, people might well promote the company. He wanted to attract the attention by saying he established the company. We understand that as far as here. However, he just kept denying everything though such his interview, namecards, and lectures that show he said he was the founder of the paper company in question, are going around us. He should have told us that he made a slip of tongue.

Basically, the change of government is the requisite for our country's development. The ruling party has paid no careful attention to the trend of the public opinion, and they were arrogant and self-righteous. I hate read their excuse of the misgovernment by saying all failures were attributed to the conservative news media, the uncooperative opposite party, and ignorant people that can not understand their noble idealism. They have to perceive thoroughly people do not support them any more by failing to maintain the power this time.
